Hey ya'll,
I just found out today that Stillwater DOES NOT allow women to ride at there rodeos or there practice pens! Just thought I'd let you all know, the owner wont have it.

I've been trying to come up with how to reply to this fact politely... I'm very disappointed, and think this is an incredibly stupid and narrow-minded decision on part of whoever makes the rules for this practice pen.
I realize on a regular basis just how lucky I am to live where I do. Within a couple of hours of home there is a bull riding or rodeo virtually every weekend, summer and winter. In fact, during the sumer there are events during the week and some weekends I have multiple events to chose from. There are also a bunch of practice pens that run every week all year long. I can get as much bull riding and bullfighting in as I want. I do not always realize how spoiled I am when it comes to women riding. The local organization that runs most of the bull ridings, SEBRA has a woman in charge, and I know of at least one woman who rides in this organization. The bull riding I went to tonight had 2 girls riding in the mutton busting and they've made the statement that they welcome all riders girls or boys at all levels (sheep, steer and bulls) One practice pen, which I don't go to, allows women to ride, and the practice pen I do go to every sunday encourages women riders, the owner actively tries to convince people regardless of sex to ride, and always makes sure to mention when there's a female rider (they've even let me fight bulls there) Then I come hear and read about the troubles women have getting the opportunity to ride and it annoys (that the polite word I came up with) me to no end that there are people out there so narrow-minded and idiotic that they would not allow someone to ride rough-stock just because they're not a guy. Hopefully with continued perseverance we can make rules like this more and more rare...
