John (www.jwebullropes.com) has just enformed me through email that if any of the ladys are interested in ANY style of bull rope, he will give you a 20% discount!!!! You must say you are from this forum and that you would like the 20%. This way he can remeber to give you the discount since it [glow=red,2,300]only[/glow] good for the ladys on this forum.
If you are interested call him directly through his TOLL FREE number His back log at the monent is about 4-5 weeks. He will even take 1/2 payment to schedule and braid your rope and when you get him the other 1/2 he will ship it. He got burnt by a couple of people so he won't ship without final payment.

Amylynn yes, Matt Sponsers the rope. I don't have one, but I hear his ropes are really great and reasonable. Check out his website or give him a call. John seems like a really good guy, and won't rob you.

I have used many ropes. Make sure you get one that fits your hand. Consider handle slack, firmness of handle, handle lacing, and how you want your tail braided. Whether you want your body cross stiched (my preference) or not, and even the length of your wear strip.
I agree there are other good ropes out there, but also some that aren't and don't last very long. I have found the good ones to be Henry Forbes, Dan Livingston, Bill Croft, and John Eddleman. Barstow and other "name brands" like CLG, Saddlebarn etc.. have good ropes made for them as well.
I get mine with a firm handle NOT hard with weed eater cord in it for longer life. The weed eater cord is only for longevity and not for hardness of the handle. If you get your handle too hard you can injure your wrist to the point were you have to switch hands. I have seen this way too many times in ameture riders.

Hey,
I braid bull ropes, Ive also owned and ridden with a few name brand ropes like you say Tuff, Saddle barn and barrowed a Barstow. There very good ropes, I had many good rides with my old Saddle Barn. But if you have a braider like me whos ropes have a good reputation and you do ya home work and see what kinda rep a braiders ropes has and talk to people who ride with them, theres no reason not to buy a rope thats not a name brand, and that includes John Eddleman. Hes a great braider, but I have people riding with my ropes who really enjoy them. Even the great and wonderful Bill Croft approves of my ropes, and they say hes the worlds best and I agree 110%. Do your homework when you buy a rope people, a name isnt everything. Its the time, effort and passion that goes into braiding a rope that makes it a d**n good one.

I totally agree GH, doing your homework and not buying the first rope you see. It's true that name isn't everything, but beware of the cheap ropes as they are generally of poor quality.
Ask questions like what type of poly they use, how long they have been braiding. Even ask how many styles of ropes they make. If they are a beginner braider make sure that they will stand behind what they sold you. You can get seriously injured if that rope fails (keep this in mind). Someone has to start somewhere, BUT I wouldn't ride with an ammeture made rope at the pro level. The bulls have way too much drop and power for an ammeture made rope to hold up to.
Never ride with a rope when the handle is rolling over, even if it is a brand new rope.
